Chocolate Dessert Hummus
There are so many different types of savory hummus, I think it’s time to serve it for dessert. This dessert hummus can be eaten with fruit, crackers, on toast, or straight of the spoon.
Dessert hummus? Why? Because I can’t be the only one who wants some type of dessert after every single meal. It seems like every time I eat something savory, I want something sweet after. This could be as simple as a square of dark chocolate, or sometimes I crave a huge ice cream cone. I can’t be the only one who feels this way, right? Typically, I am a salty girl. For a night time snack I will always choose popcorn or chips and salsa over a sweet treat. But, right after a big savory meal? Sweets are needed ASAP.
Typically, we reserve Sunday as our ice cream day. I don’t really even know how that tradition began, but as soon as Ryan and I moved in together we’ve gotten ice cream every Sunday. I usually try to keep my sweets a little bit healthier during the week. At work, I will always grab a piece of dark chocolate after lunch. After dinner, I love having a heaping spoon of peanut butter with chocolate chips stuck into it. This week, I am headed to Mexico for a little fam vacay and I can’t wait to see what yummy desserts they have to offer there. Want to follow our trip? I needed to think of a new little treat for dessert, and since I love savory hummus so much, why not sweeten it up? This hummus is made with the traditional base of chick peas. But, the add ins are a little different. It is filled with cocoa powder, honey, coconut oil, and some other goodies. As for toppings, add whatever you like! This time, I used chocolate chips and chopped walnuts. Cause everything needs chocolate chips. For dipping? Crackers, fruit, strawberries, toast, graham crackers, whatever you like. The best part? It takes 10 minutes MAX start to finish.
- 1 15-ounce can of chick peas, drained and rinsed
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsps honey
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup cup water
- Put all ingredients together in a food processor or blender, and then blend until smooth.
